What is Hysteria? Hysteria is a very complex phenomenon and can be defined as the state of both mental and neurotic disorder arising from intense anxiety. Its a type of violent emotional outbreaks characterized by a lack of control over acts and emotions. It occurs mostly between the ages of 15 and 25. Following are the main causes of hysteria: Depression Traumatism Sexual repression Prolonged sickness Anxiety Symptoms of Hysteria The main symptoms of hysteria are nervousness, seductive behavior, intolerance, insomnia, shortness of breath, irritability, capriciousness, and irritability. During fits, a patient becomes hyper-emotional.
